Speaker: Hinano Nahinu
Bio :
Hinano Nahinu is a proud Native Hawaiian born and raised in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. A graduate of Hilo High School, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a Master of Business Administration from Chaminade University of Honolulu, where she also served as the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Student Chapter President.
Driven by her passion and vision, Hinano launched her own interior design firm, Interiors By Hinano, in 2007. With over 25 years of experience in the interior design and kitchen and bath industry, she has collaborated with numerous respected firms across Hawaiʻi. Her award-winning work has been recognized both locally and nationally, featured in publications such as Trends Kitchen Magazine and Best Home.
Hinano’s designs are celebrated for their beauty, functionality, and cultural sensitivity, often helping clients discern their lifestyles through personalized, thoughtful spaces. Her ability to connect and collaborate deeply with clients and industry professionals alike has been a cornerstone of her success.
She currently serves as the Immediate Past President on the Executive Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, Chair of the Professional Women in Building Council, and as the Hawaiʻi State Delegate to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington D.C.
Hinano’s journey has been deeply influenced by her late brother Shannon, a contractor, and her mother, a realtor. She credits both, along with her faith in God, as foundational in her path to becoming a licensed interior design contractor and entrepreneur.
Hinano resides on Oʻahu’s North Shore with her husband of 24 years, Milton. They have two children, Pono, who lives in Florida and is in the Navy, and Lilinoe, who is attending college in Colorado . She considers being a wife and mother her “greatest ministry and treasure.”
